There will be no more updates here as I’ve created a new site with a more minimalist look. You will now find me at darrengreene.ie. For now, there will be no links page on the new site but I will be dropping some into the bottom of the odd photo or two. Keep an eye out for them.

I’m not bringing the archives over from this site so everything will be fresh so I hope you enjoy the new ‘me’ and that you will return to the new site for updated photos on a more regular basis (not daily but nearly daily).

So the 17th March was another one of those great days.  With huge thanks to Marcus at pixie I was given a golden ticket for the St. Patrick’s Day Festival which gave me access all areas on the parade route.  You can more of my photos here and loads more of the parade at the official St. Patrick’s Festival photo sharing group.

It was also an opportunity to catch up with friends and meet up with twitter, pixie & boards.ie contacts I hadn’t met before.  A huge thanks to Gill for the loan of her 24-70 lens for the day.  I was reluctant to give it back and now I really want one

Taken during the photo walk for the blog awards in Cork. What a weekend!

By the time this is published I should be at Dublin Airport waiting to board my flight to Cork for the blog awards. Redmum has organised a photowalk meeting at noon at the Oak Pub, Oliver Plunkett Street and Caroline Street (map).  I will be bringing a spare camera with me if anyone wants to tag along and doesn’t have one.

A little update for you. I have made it through to the final round in the photoblog category (sponsered by pixie) of the 2009 Irish Blog Awards.  Congratulations to everyone else in the photoblog and all the other categories.  This should be a good weekend

Here is another view of inside City Hall taken with my fisheye lens. You can see the other side here but I’ve shot this at a lower angle to include a statue.  It is still one of my favourite buildings in Ireland and I must return to it soon.

I have a question for anyone that visits my blog. Do you think 800px on the longest side is big enough to view my photos? I am considering going up to 1024px on the longest side. Would appreciate some feedback on this.

We had quite a beautiful sky in Dublin when I took this. The polariser filter helped too.

Another shot of Hook Lighthouse. A lot of people have commented on the spectacular waves that can happen here during stormy conditions. They weren’t that bad when I arrived there but I would hazard a guess it would be dangerous spot to be where I took this shot from. I may have to re-evaluate my plans and head back during worse conditions.
